Aerobed Comfort Lock Airbed and Pump

The Aerobed Comfort Lock Pump was developed and designed to provide adjustable, reliable, and effortless comfort to consumers. Once a desired setting was chosen from the main interface, the airbed would maintain the original pressure using of Comfort Lock technology. The secondary built in pump would engage if the bed were to lose air during usage and re-fill to the original setting that was chosen without waking up or disturbing consumers sleep. I had the opportunity to design the pump and the interface from the ground up with the help from the Airbed Engineering team to ensure the design was feasible and functioned to testing and quality standards.

Revitalizing the aIRBED pump
Aerobed air bed pumps were dated, clunky, and not very user friendly. The brand was looking to update the visual brand language with the consumer as the central focus, while incorporating an innovating feature of customizable, locked in comfort that would auto adjust for consumers- no more air bed tacos and deflation over night.

In HOME TRENDS
Trending neutrals, gray tones, and bright whites were the inspiration for the color, material and finish of both the airbed SKU's and the pump itself. Aerobed blue was used as a signature element for lighting and decals. Stainless steel and stain nickel finishes were incorporated into the palette for key touch points on the pump to elevate the overall product.

COLOR PALETTE
In the past, most of the Aerobed pumps were different shades of beige, cream or white. In order to elevate the brand, more neutral gray tones and white were brought into the palette to fit better in the home and with consumers decor without being too overpowering or looking dated. The color palette for the pump was based off in home trends and the Aerobed logo. The pump would be primarily gray, the secondary color being the brushed satin nickel touch point on the control knob, cool gray for the on product graphics, and the various blues seen in the Aerobed logo for the decal on the pump, as well as for the LED's.

COMFORT LOCK
Once the final design was locked, the UI flow was further developed. The interface needed to be simple, clean, intuitive and seamless while cycling through each comfort setting.

Spec's were created in Adobe Illustrator and sent to Engineering and the vendor for review before receiving samples.
